Cade is the last of the Skywalkers, and like his predecessors, the Force is strong in him. And, like many of them, he struggles to find his way between the dark side and the light side. He is the son of Kol Skywalker, the head of the Jedi Council at the time of the Massacre of Ossus.
Raised as a Jedi by his father on Ossus, Cade turned his back on his heritage after being traumatized by watching his father’s death at the hands of the One Sith and swore revenge on Darth Nihl, the Sith that murdered his father. Cade bought the shuttle of younglings time to escape by jumping into his starfighter. Wolf Sazen, Cade’s Jedi Master, thought the young Jedi perished when he saw Cade’s ship explode. What he didn’t realize is that Cade sealed off his jumpsuit and put himself into a hibernation trance. He awoke three days after the Massacre of Ossus, floating in space, being brought aboard the scavenger ship of the Rav the Pirate. He became part of Rav’s crew and became close friends with another boy on the ship, Jariah Syn. The two became like brothers. It is no surprise that when Cade got his own ship and left Rav’s organization that Jariah went with him.
Cade is haunted by his past and haunted by the thoughts of being discovered. He has managed to keep himself cut off from the Force for years by the use of Death Sticks, a highly addictive and very illegal drug that Rav supplies Cade with, mainly to keep Cade in debt to him.
Along with Jariah and Cade, a Zelton by the name of Deliah Blue crews the Mynock, Cade’s ship. Both of his crewmates are his family. Beyond that, Cade was reunited with his father’s brother Nat Skywalker, who was in hiding under the alias Bantha Rawk. Bantha helped fit out the Mynock and even made Cade’s carbine blaster. Bantha and his wife Droo have three children, Ahnah (Droo’s daughter from an earlier relationship) and two adopted boys, Skeeto and a young Cathar, named Micah.
Cade is a smuggler, pirate, and part-time bounty hunter. He has tried to bury the idealistic Jedi deep down within him. There is a deep well of anger and a powerful connection to the Dark Side of the Force buried down there as well – a part of him that worries his friends at times. He has lost too many people that he cared about already and cannot stand the idea of losing anyone else. He has already perverted nature to keep someone from dying when it was their time to do so, by calling on the Dark Side to pull them back from the brink of death.
