Captain Grev Vydor is in the command of the Valiant. Captain Vydor commands not only the respect and loyalty of his men. The crew of the Valiant would follow Vydor to hell and the back. Unlike most of the captains in the Remnant Fleet, Grev Vydor was a loyal Imperial naval officer. It wasn't until his ship was ordered to bombard a civilian settlement, who was being used to make a statement.
When faced with this, Vydor refused the order and in fact attacked the Sith on his bridge who had gloated about the innocence of the settlement and how their pacifist culture would make an even more telling statement. Any soldier who did not agree with him was left down on a planet. They had only been following orders and did not deserve to be killed.
He changed the name of the ship from the Gladius to the Valiant and tracked down the Galactic Remnant. He eventually found them and joined their ranks. Because he and his men have not been shut off from the rest of the world, so he volunteered to be a bit more active hand in the rest of the galaxy. His ship, while more known than many of the others, moves in and out of ports more frequently than many others.
What few realize is that Grev Vydor was actually trained as part of the Imperial Special Forces, after he grew tired of the special ops missions - or rather after too many near debilitating injuries and he was put out of commission by medical staff. Once he was taken off of the roster for active missions, he was given command of a capital ship. He requested that a normal of his men was assigned to his command. So a lot of his command staff are former special ops.
