Nell Davengatt is the daughter to the King of Meat, Jaffro Davengatt - owner of the famous Double-Zed Nerf Ranch. In truth, the Double-Zed is but one of Jaffro's many holdings; it is just the most famous. After her mother's death, Nell grew up on Engebo V at the prized Double-Zed. She grew up watching and learning the business, set to one day take over.
That idea came to a screaching halt, when a transport, The Madman's Fortune, a travelling museum and freak show, crashed planetside and specifically on the ranch's property. The ship was infested with Skekfish, which quickly began to spread, killing every living creature they came in contact with. Nell escaped aboard The Radiant Splendor with the ship's crew - the only survivors of Engebo V. The planet was classified as dangerous and blockaded.
Nell was dropped off with some of her remaining family. She has taken over her father's business, using his lesser quality Nerfs, trying to rebuild the Davengatt name. She also inherited an obscene fortunate, as the Double-Zed Nerf Ranch was insured against ecological disasters, which infestation of Skekfish was deemed as such.
