Sharla Lotze (pronounced lOt-za) is the daughter of the Jedi Vigel Lotze. Vigel was the former student of Master K'kruhk. He served with the Whiphid Jedi Master in the days before the Purge and the Jedi hunt.

Vigel had fallen under the spell of a married woman. Their relationship was secret, or at least, so they thought. Zamira was married to a very influential politican, for whom Vigel had worked with extensively negotiating a peace treaty. In that time, the young Jedi Knight and the senator's wife spent quite a bit of time. Zamira complained of how her marriage was one born of politics and not love. Over the course of the negotiations, Vigel and Zamira fell in love. Or at least, that is how the young Jedi believed. In truth, Zamira was as cunning as her husband and the carefully planned affair was just to get back at her husband. She knew that if she was to become too much of a political embarrassment for her husband, he would be forced to relinquish her from the union. She had plans of her own. Ah, but for the best laid plans of ranats and men…

When Vigel found out that Zamira was pregnant, he immediately wanted to go to her husband and tell him of their love for one another, but Zamira laughed at him. Senator Zagan ruined Zamira's plans by beating her to the punch and announcing her affair and forgiving her and stating that he would raise the child as his own. Vigel watched from a distance for a couple years, seeing his daughter used as a weapon between the two ruthless politicians.

Unable to tolerate it any longer, he stole his way into the couple's home and stole his daughter in the middle of the night. He took Sharla to an old friend, who could take care of the girl for him. He knew that if the Council discovered his actions, that he would be forced to return the girl to her mother and adopted father. So his pride and joy became his greatest secret and shame.

When the Sith began taking the Jedi out, Vigel and K'kruhk were on a mission together. They were being hunted down like rats, and Vigel had been injured. He knew that his injuries were to serious to be mended and that he would only cause the venerable Master to be caught as well, so he convinced K'kruhk to leave him behind. He also made the Jedi Master promise that he would keep Sharla safe. The aging Whiphid had no idea who he was talking about but promised that he would find her and protect her.

After Vigel had been captured, his death was not quick. He was slowly tortured over the course of two years before he finally relinquished his life. K'kruhk was eventually able to find out who this Sharla was that was so important to Vigel, but when he went for her, he found that the home had been destroyed. The Sith had raided the home, as Terris was known to be a friend to Jedi. K'kruhk assumed that he had failed in his vow and that the girl had been either captured or killed in the raid.

What he didn't know is that the girl escaped the raid and was left on the streets. She was forced to deal with her budding abilities with the force on her own. She learned how to listen in and that kept her one step ahead of the law. Eventually the young con artist was caught by Kavan Leral, who brought her into his employ as a teenager. Leral took care of Sharla, cleaned her up, gave her a place to stay, and in return, she would use her gifts to listen in on thoughts for him. She serves as both security and as a corporate spy.

Using Leral's resources, she found video footage of her father's arrest and his abandonment by Master K'kruhk. For years, this has burned in her heart, acting as an opening for the Dark Side. She is driven to face the Whiphid master and make him answer for her father's death.
