Sloan is the Emperor's second cousin. It was his father, Mohrgan Fel, who sacrificed himself to act as Roan Fel's body double, when the Sith tried to assassinate the Emperor. Emperor Fel swore that he would raise Mohrgan's son. Sloan might as well have been born as his own son. Only the princess stands before Sloan in the line of succession.

Like his father, Sloan is completely loyal to Emperor Fel, and equally devoted to his cousin, Marasiah Fel. Since Marasiah's bodyguard's death at the hands of the Sith, Sloan has taken it onto himself to protect the princess, even if she seems to think otherwise.
