Yvanda has heard the Dark Side whispering in her ear her entire life. It has kept her from harm; it has lead her down the path she walks; and it may very well lead her to her death.
Yvanda was not found by the Sith, she walked right up to them. She gave them information that she could not have possibly known. And despite the fact that Darth Maladi wished to take her own as her own student, Yvanda told the Sith that the Dark Side told her that she was to come to them and that she needed to go to a planet called Ash. So it was decided that she would go there and be Darth Taraxis's pupil despite the fact that they had nothing in common.
Yvanda is the Prophet of the Dark Side and has an amazing gift for farseeing. She is also quite insane, having received visions of suffering her entire life.
